Job Specifics

Duties Description • Performs minor, and when required, major repairs and adjustments to equipment.

• Repairs and adjusts valves, switches, regulators, lights, gauges, batteries, thermostats and safety controls.

• Repairs and replaces sinks, toilets, faucets and flush-o-meters.

• Recommends the need for major repairs, installation of new equipment, rearrangement of existing equipment, any additional manpower and specialized tools required to do the job.

• Controls emergencies, such as electrical malfunctions and other hazardous conditions; locates malfunctions by tracing blueprints and diagrams of electrical, pneumatic and other systems.

• Installs, maintains and repairs building lighting and power distribution, parking lot and plaza lighting, highway lighting, traffic controls and signals, emergency generators, communication systems, roadway, navigation and other electrical systems.

Minimum Qualifications Four years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled tradesperson which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in skilled trades at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services.

Candidate will be required to obtain a Class B permit issued by the NYS Department of Motor Vehicles within 30 days of appointment AND must obtain a Class B license as a condition of satisfactory completion of the probationary period.

Preferred Qualifications:

Work experience in electrical systems, including planning layout and installation, repairing wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment.

ADDITIONAL PAY INFORMATION:
The salary range for this position includes all applicable annual components of pay which are:
Base Pay Range from Hiring Rate $29.51 up to Job Rate $31.95
Recruitment & Retention Pay: $3.37.
