Job Specifics
Duties Description The School of Education at SUNY Old Westbury invites applications for a tenure-track position in Mathematics and Technology Adolescence Education, beginning Fall 2026. We seek a highly qualified and innovative mathematics educator with demonstrated expertise in both mathematics and educational technology.
Candidates must possess a strong academic background, holding a doctoral degree in Mathematics Education, Mathematics, or a closely related field. Exceptional applicants who demonstrate strong expertise in mathematics and significant experience integrating technology into mathematics instruction will also be considered. New York State certification in Mathematics Adolescence Education or equivalent experience is required.
Preference will be given to candidates who have demonstrated excellence in teaching mathematics at the undergraduate and graduate levels; who effectively integrate technology to enhance mathematics learning at the secondary, undergraduate, and graduate levels; and who have experience teaching in multicultural environments. Familiarity with innovative instructional technologies, as well as AAQEP, NCTM, and New York State standards and assessments, is highly desirable.
Responsibilities include:
coordinating and advancing the undergraduate and graduate Mathematics and Technology Education programs;
teaching mathematics pedagogy, lower-division mathematics courses, and technology-integrated instruction;
and serving as a liaison among the Departments of Mathematics, Educational Technology, and Secondary Education.
Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to innovative teaching, scholarly research, and service. The position also includes teaching undergraduate and graduate courses during the day or evening, as well as supervising student teachers.
Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
Doctoral degree in Mathematics Education, Mathematics, or a closely related field.
A strong academic background.
Substantial experience integrating technology into mathematics instruction.
New York State certification in Mathematics Adolescence Education or equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated excellence in teaching mathematics at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Demonstrated excellence in effectively integrating technology to enhance mathematics learning at the secondary, undergraduate, and graduate levels.
Experience teaching in multicultural environments.
Familiarity with innovative instructional technologies.
AAQEP, NCTM, and New York State standards and assessments.
