Job Specifics
Duties Description This position is critical to the ongoing operations of Nyack Equipment. Filling this position will ensure the continued efficient operation of administrative functions that directly support the Equipment facility's mission. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Processing PCMS transactions for supervisors, mechanics, and other staff
- Distributing mail
- Maintaining office records, including injury reports, accident reports, benefits information, and personnel files
- Ordering office supplies
- Preparing correspondence, memoranda, and meeting minutes
- Creating purchase orders and requisitions
- Assisting with personnel-related matters
- Processing invoices
- Managing accident damage and repair cost documentation
- Providing oversight and guidance to the Office Assistant 1
Minimum Qualifications 1. TRANSFER QUALIFICATIONS FOR CURRENT STATE EMPLOYEES: Current New York State employee with one year or more of qualifying permanent service allocated to a Grade 07 or above and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the NYS Civil Service Law.
2. NY HELPS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
One year of clerical experience.
This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title may be filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply.
At a future date, it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in an NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.
Additional Comments This is a Unit 1, Teamsters position. The NYS Thruway Authority offers an extensive benefits package, including but not limited to paid time off, sick leave incentive, membership to the NYS Retirement System, and 90% tuition assistance.
ADDITIONAL PAY INFORMATION:
The salary range for this position includes all applicable annual components of pay which are:
Base Pay: $39,737 hiring rate up to $56,710 job rate
Location Pay: $3400 for Downstate
Recruitment & Retention Pay: $7,000
