Job Specifics

Duties Description The Deputy Director Rehabilitation Hospital is an executive level position that serves as the Hospital’s Chief Clinical Officer, reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer. The incumbent will direct the day to day operations of the Hospital’s clinical services and operations and coordinate the long range clinical planning activities for the hospital; ensures hospital compliance with Department of Health, Joint Commission, Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and any other regulatory agencies. They will direct department heads in the delivery of clinical services to all patients and serve as the administrator on call to respond to any immediate needs of the Hospital, assuming all duties as required to ensure management of all hospital services. The Chief Clinical Officer will maintain organizational stability by communicating the Hospital mission and enforcing ethical business practices. They will establish clear organizational standards/policies that guide decision-making, ensure regulatory compliance, and promote operational consistency. The incumbent will accomplish operating objectives by establishing plans, timetables and outcome measurements; reviews progress and makes corrections as needed. They will oversee and lead qQuality mManagement, pPerformance iImprovement, pPatient sSafety, and Cclinical Ooutcomes with strong focus on patient volumes/census, goal achievement and deliverable objectives. The Chief Clinical Officer will drive initiatives for sustained performance growth in the Hospital’s patient census and overall aAdmissions department. They will be responsible for reporting quarterly at board meetings and participate in community events, public relations opportunities and Department of Health initiatives. They will manage clinical department’s budgets to allocate resources effectively and develop operational plans for clinical support areas, ensuring adequate staffing to meet project and service goals. They will identify and implement new programs and service lines, and adjusting staffing accordingly.

Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
Ten years of experience as an administrator of a staff or support area in a program providing direct comprehensive services for patients in a rehabilitation or acute care hospital, of which three years must have been at a supervisory level.

**Substitutions:
A qualifying college degree may substitute for the portion of the general experience as follows: associate’s, two years; bachelor’s, four years; and master’s, five years. Qualifying degrees include: business administration, accounting, nursing, health care administration, business education, marketing, economics, banking and finance, industrial engineering, mathematics, computer networking, commerce, public administration, and industrial management.

Preferred Qualifications: The preferred candidate will be a licensed clinician with a graduate degree in a clinical area, a doctorate is preferred. They will be Board Certified in Healthcare Management as a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE). The preferred candidate will have 12 years of experience in healthcare services, and a proven record of accomplishment in health care environments, particularly in the areas of operational and excellence, and improving performance. They will be a clinical operations leader with inpatient rehabilitation hospital and skilled nursing facility experience.

The posted salary range includes a downstate adjustment of $4,150.
