Job Specifics

Minimum Qualifications 30 semester credit hours, including 12 semester credit hours in fisheries, marine resources or wildlife management; mariculture; marine biology; aquaculture; aquatic, marine or terrestrial ecology; zoology; marine technology; botany; limnology; hydrology; or oceanography.

Duties Description Rare Fish Unit. Fish identification skills including minnows required. Must be able to work independently. Lab work including scale counts and dispensing fish for dissections for pharyngeal teeth. Fish health and culture experience. Remote trips involving electrofishing, seining and gill nets often on unmarked trails. Experience in working with Microsoft Access, Excel spreadsheets, GIS and the statewide fisheries database forms is needed. Frequent overnight travel statewide is required.

Additional Comments Seasonal, hourly appointment from 4/1/16, and ending no later than 11/30/2016. Program needs will determine actual termination date, which may be prior to 11/30/2016. Approval to fill is pending.

Actual work schedule, duties and travel requirements may vary and will be discussed at interview.

Must have valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation
needs of the position. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain. Must be able to work in remote areas. Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds. Frequent overnight travel statewide.
