Job Specifics
Minimum Qualifications Open to New York State employees:
Transfer Opportunity - Currently serving permanently in Nurse 2 or Nurse 2 (Psychiatric) titles and eligible for lateral transfer; OR in a comparable title and eligible for Section 70.1 or 70.4 transfer.
Open to the Public:
Nurse 2:
A license and currently registered to practice nursing in New York State AND one year of post-RN licensure clinical nursing experience.
Nurse 2 (Psychiatric):
A license and currently registered to practice nursing in New York State AND either one year of post-RN licensure clinical nursing experience, of which six months must be specialized nursing experience with individuals, at least 50% of whom have been diagnosed with mental illness, alcoholism, or chemical dependency, OR eighteen months of post-RN licensure clinical nursing experience.
You must be eligible and maintain eligibility for full and unconditional participation in the Medicaid and Medicare programs. If you receive an appointment, your continued employment will depend on maintaining eligibility. Failure to do so may result in the termination of your appointment.
Duties Description A Nurse 2 / Nurse 2 (Psychiatric) provides professional nursing services appropriate to individuals diagnosed with mental illness. Nursing services include, but are not limited to:
nursing interventions and their documentation,
case finding,
health teaching/counseling,
provision of supportive and/or restorative care,
staff training,
clinical and administration report preparation,
maintenance of infection control standards, and
participation on a treatment team
You may also act as a charge nurse. You may provide supervision to subordinate professional, paraprofessional and support staff in the performance of their patient/resident care duties and be responsible for maintaining inventory standards for medicines, controlled drugs and narcotics.
