Minimum Qualifications A. Education

A Master's degree in a mental hygiene discipline (including physician assistant, occupational therapy, physical therapy, social work, speech pathology and audiology, communication disorders, psychology, recreation therapy, rehabilitation counseling, education, nursing), hospital administration, community mental health, business or public administration or other administrative area specifically related to health care, behavioral or social science or a valid license to practice medicine in New York State or Canada.

B. Experience

Six (6) years of administrative, consultative, or supervisory experience in a mental health program, two years of which must have been managerial experience, including one or more of the following:

1. One (1) year of satisfactory experience in a position as administrative head of a multi-disciplinary treatment team;

OR

2. One (1) year of satisfactory supervisory, professional, or administrative experience in the development, operation, and/or implementation of the mental health service delivery system for State facilities, counties, or local/private agencies in two (2) or more of the following areas: program development, management procedures, community organization, resource planning, funding, program proposals, advisory boards, consumer and community advocacy and intergovernmental relations.

Duties Description The DDPC 1 Operations serves as an essential member of the Executive Leadership Team at SLPC. Under the general direction of the Executive Director and in close collaboration with the Clinical Director and DDPC Quality Management, the DDPC 1 Operations will design, develop, evaluate, and ensure the effective operation of the facility’s adult inpatient and outpatient treatment programs. The DDPC 1 Operations will participate in the development of the facility's short and long term goals; establish policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective service delivery; supervise, coordinate, and direct the activities of subordinate managers; monitor and oversee staffing, assignments, and work schedules to ensure quality patient care; oversee the admissions and discharge process; ensure that service delivery complies with OMH guidelines and regulatory agency standards; establish and maintain effective working relationships with external organizations to maximize resources and implement program goals; and ensure the maintenance of a safe and therapeutic environment.

Additional Comments St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center (SLPC) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Deputy Director, Psychiatric Center 1 – Operations (DDPC 1 Operations). Located in Ogdensburg, New York, SLPC provides a comprehensive range of quality outpatient and inpatient services to adults and children covering a six (6) county service area in Upstate New York. These services are delivered in a respectful, safe, and caring environment with a primary focus on hope and recovery. SLPC promotes a system of care in which treatment, rehabilitation and recovery are realized through ongoing collaboration with patients, their families, and the service providers within the facility's catchment area.
