Duties Description The incumbent will be assisting with the large backlog of real property matters. This will include recording easements, overseeing the acquisition of property, and dealing with egress issues.
The incumbent will also be assigned enforcement cases, including hearings, to help resolve the existing backlog. This task will include extensive negotiations. This will include RCRA enforcement, since DEC does not currently have an attorney performing that task.
The incumbent will also be assigned to help the Air and Energy Bureau, both with enforcement and permit hearings. That Bureau has a significant workload, and being able to offload several hearings will be essential for that Bureau getting all its work done.
Lastly, the incumbent will be a liaison with the AG’s office on several large cases in litigation.
Additional Comments Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position.
Travel may be required.
Telecommuting may be available, will be discussed at interview.

For new State employees appointed to graded positions, the annual salary is the hiring rate (beginning of the Salary Range) of the position. Promotion salaries are calculated by the NYS Office of the State Comptroller in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law, OSC Payroll rules and regulations and negotiated union contracts.
