Minimum Qualifications Transfer Candidates: One year of permanent or contingent-permanent competitive service as a Senior Architect, G-24, or Architect 1, G-24.

Non-Competitive Candidates: An architect's license, with current registration, from any state or territory in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree in Architecture strongly preferred, plus two years relevant post-license experience. A NYS Code Enforcement Official certification and experience in health care design, including but not limited to Hospitals, Outpatient Facilities, Nursing Homes, and Mental Health.

Duties Description The incumbent will review project development during the pre-design and design phases of the project, including meeting with clients, consultants and providing assistance. Perform periodic site visits as required for projects under construction and review technical issues that could affect life safety and programmatic requirements. Review highly technical designs, plans and details. Review highly technical architectural/engineering reports and studies. Provide technical assistance and recommendations to bureau staff, NYSDOH staff including field staff and client representatives. The incumbent will perform independent, in-depth investigations of specific problems including, architectural/engineering analysis and provide recommendations. Consult with regulatory agencies regarding interpretations and applications. Monitor the services provided by professional consultants and attend meetings to review and assist with their submissions. Prepare reports for management and clients. Assist in the development, compilation, and distribution of technical data. Remains current with all local, state, and federal rules and regulations. Assists and manages the policies and procedures for efficacy and quality in the day-to-day operations within and outside the bureau. The incumbent may assist Management in the development of policies and regulations. The incumbent will also develop, document, and implement policies and procedures. As well as assess, develop, and implement internal controls, and oversee the review and testing of same and undertake special assignments as directed.

Additional Comments This position is part of the NYS HELPS program. No examination is required.

This position may require travel throughout New York State including overnights to areas not served by public transportation.
