Duties Description The incumbent of this position must be able to perform the following essential functions:
• Perform clerical support functions, which may include, but are not limited to: processing incoming mail, data entering, scanning, reviewing and routing applications, typing, and proofreading.
• Responding to emails and referrals.
• Maintain databases by updating exempt organization account information.
• Print and mail exempt organization certificates.
• Maintain files by packaging approved and disapproved applications for storage.
• Monitor and reorder stock.
• Prepare monthly production reports.
• Communicate effectively in writing, in person, and via telephone.
• Meet the Department’s time and attendance rules and regulations.

Minimum Qualifications COMPETITIVE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

The selected candidate must be reachable on the eligible list for this title and location under Civil Service Law, Rules and Regulations.

OR
The selected candidate must be eligible for a 70.1 transfer under Civil Service Law, Rules and Regulations.
OR
If eligible via 55 b/c please provide a copy of your active letter of eligibility with your response.

This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS)

For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title maybe filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply.
At a future date it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in a NY HELPS titles, employees may take part in a promotion examination for which they are qualified.


NON-COMPETATIVE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Current NYS employees with one year or more of qualifying permanent service as an Office assistant, clerical or keyboarding title allocated to Grade 6 or higher. Qualifying titles are available at: https://www.cs.ny.gov/examannouncements/38687titles.cfm
OR
One year of clerical experience.
