Duties Description Mid-Hudson Forensic Psychiatric Center is recruiting for a Psychiatrist 2 Forensic to provide a full range of care and treatment to individuals incarcerated in the State and County Correctional System. Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply.

As a Psychiatrist 2 Forensic at Mid-Hudson Forensic Psychiatric Center, you will be part of a diverse interdisciplinary team focused on providing culturally sensitive, trauma-informed, and evidence based treatment including:

• Performing psychiatric screenings, evaluations, and examinations.
• Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests and procedures, diagnosing, and treating various psychiatric conditions.
• Administering psychiatric treatments, medications, and therapies. Conducting follow-up exams and modifying treatments as needed.
• Collaborating with other licensed physicians and healthcare providers on diagnoses and treatment plans, and approves treatment recommendations.
• Competency restoration.
• Correctional mental health services.

Minimum Qualifications Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (NY HELPS) program if they have:
• License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State; and
• Certification in psychiatry approved by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN); and
• Certification in forensic psychiatry approved be the ABPN.
OR
Candidates from within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.


Additional Comments Psychiatrists at OMH are eligible for:
• Loan Repayment offering up to $120,000
• Supplemental income of up to 50% of salary by volunteering to provide evening, night, and weekend coverage

Continued employment as a Psychiatrist 1 or Psychiatrist 2 is dependent upon current licensure and to practice medicine and in the case of current certification in psychiatry, certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Loss of licensure and certification may result in removal from this position.
