Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree with either seven years of professional, managerial experience in insurance accounting, collections, cash management, or auditing in an insurance company or similar financial services institution or seven years of professional, managerial experience in an insurance company or similar financial services institution which must include five years of experience in the development/management of an internal control program, risk management program, or system control program. Also, two years of the overall experience must have included the supervision of staff. An MBA may substitute for one year of the non-supervisory experience. A CPA may substitute for two years of the non-supervisory experience.
Duties Description The incumbent in this position reports directly to a New York State Insurance Fund Deputy Director and oversees NYSIF’s Internal Controls Department.
Ensures that current requirements and responsibilities in the field of Internal Control are communicated to NYSIF’s Board of Commissioners, the Board’s Budget and Audit Committee, as well as the Executive Director and Chief Fiscal Officer. Directs educational programs to formally communicate information on Internal Control processes and requirements to key management personnel and employees; educates non-financial personnel on the meaning of significant controls over financial reporting and solicits their assistance and cooperation. Oversees the assessment of NYSIF’s Internal Controls, tests and documents NYSIF’s Internal Controls procedure for any deficiencies and makes suggestions for implementation of necessary remediations.
