If qualifying for either the Senior Accountant or Accountant Trainee 1 based upon service in one of the qualifying titles with an asterisk*, you must submit a list of qualifying coursework with your application that shows you have 24 semester credit hours in accounting/auditing. You must provide the course name, the number of semester credit hours received, and the name of the accredited college or university attended. Although you may have received credit for courses such as business law, economics, statistics, or finance as part of your accounting curriculum, these courses cannot be counted toward the required 24 semester credit hours. You may also provide college transcripts. Include separate undergraduate and graduate transcripts for each college attended.

Duties Description The incumbent will be assigned to the Fiscal Policy and Cost Allocation Unit. Duties will include, but not be limited to:
• Analyzing Federal and State budgets, and Federal and State laws/regulations, to determine the impact upon the State, as well as the impact on Social Services Districts’ (SSDs) claiming and accounting processes, and associated fiscal systems;
• Making recommendations for required changes, and developing initiatives for implementation of fiscal changes that affect impacted areas;
• Initiating and testing fiscal changes that affect the accounting systems used by the SSDs;
• Determining the need for, and writing new or updating existing, department guidance;
• Maintaining related manuals that guide the SSDs;
• Participating in developing and conducting training of SSD staff on fiscal changes;
• Preparing correspondence to SSDs and Federal authorities in response to issues, or questions submitted for clarification or consideration.
Additional Comments Salary for Accountant Trainee 1 = $41,170
A full-time, permanent appointment will be made. Some travel, including travel to areas that may not be served by public transportation, may be required. If certified by Civil Service, mandatory reemployment list candidates must be considered first for appointment to this title.
