Minimum Qualifications Eligible candidates must be on the current eligible list for Criminal Justice Program Representative (Administration) Trainee 1 and have a reachable score. If you are applying under Section 55b/c, you must meet the open-competitive qualifications of: a bachelor's or higher level degree in criminal justice, criminology, forensics, law enforcement, crime analysis, public justice, justice studies, or correctional studies and have current documentation that you are eligible for 55b/c appointment.
Duties Description The Law Enforcement Accreditation Program provides mechanisms to formally recognize law enforcement agencies for excellence and professionalism displayed by those agencies through compliance with 133 standards in the areas of administration, operations and training as set by the governing body, the Law Enforcement Agency Accreditation Council. This position reports to the Accreditation Unit Program Manager. The incumbent’s duties will include, but not be limited to, the following program tasks:
• Become familiar with the accreditation standards so as to provide technical assistance to law enforcement agencies preparing for the assessment process;
• Ensure that all program activities are conducted according to program rules and regulations and established policies and procedures;
• Review applications for participation in the program;
• Coordinate agency assessments and the completion of associated administrative tasks;
• Conduct on-site reviews.
• Work closely with staff of law enforcement agencies and program assessors to coordinate the initial assessment, reassessment, or compliance audit of an agency seeking to become accredited or reaccredited;
• Assist the Office of Public Safety Accreditation Program Manager in preparing for the quarterly Accreditation Council meetings;
• Prepare letters and correspondence to law enforcement staff and program assessors;
• Make presentations or provide briefings to the Accreditation Council as needed;
• Assist in the coordination of the Governor's Police Officer of the Year Award Program;
• Assist in the administration of the Asset Forfeiture Reporting Program; and
• Assist in any other tasks and duties as determined by the OPS Accreditation Program Manager.
The incumbent may be reassigned to other program areas within the Office of Public Safety if organizational needs dictate.
