Minimum Qualifications Candidates will be qualified for permanent competitive appointment if reachable from the appropriate Civil
Service eligible list or eligible for reassignment or transfer in accordance with Civil Service Law.

Provisional: If a viable eligible list does not exist, a provisional appointment may be made in accordance with Civil Service Law. Candidates who accept a provisional appointment must take the next competitive examination and be reachable on the resultant eligible list to be considered for permanent appointment to the position.
To be eligible to take the Intermodal Transportation Specialist 2 examination you must be a qualified employee of the New York State Department of Transportation and have had one year of permanent competitive service as:
An Intermodal Transportation Specialist 1, Intermodal Transportation Specialist 1 (Bus System Safety), Intermodal Transportation Specialist 1 (Motor Carrier Safety), Intermodal Transportation Specialist 1 (Rail Safety), Transportation Analyst, or Senior Capital Program Analyst.
Only the title(s) listed is qualifying for this examination(s).

Duties Description Under the supervision of an Associate Transportation Analyst, duties for the incumbent will include, but are not
limited to,
• Serve as the Mobility Coordinator for the NYC regional office:
o Examine state plans for impact on current or future Sustainability or Mobility plans or
Projects.
o Assist in the Preparation of Initial Project Proposals (IPP). For Mobility and Sustainability
Projects
o Assist in the preparation of Project Scoping Reports for Mobility and Sustainability
Projects
• Off System Reviews
o Manage preliminary highway design review, organize meetings, guide discussion on
integral projects.
• Grant Research
o Create and maintain a monthly list of USDOT (and other sources) funding
opportunities.
o Prepare grant applications.
• Assist with managing regional transportation studies.
• Manage Multimodal Projects
• Participate in Financial Plan review and processing
• Responsibilities may include serving a role within the Incident Command System to support the
department’s response to regional and statewide emergency situations

Additional Comments Salary to include an additional $3,400 location pay.
