Minimum Qualifications Current New York State employee with one year or more of qualifying permanent service in a position allocated to a Grade 25/M-1 or above and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 or 52.6 of the Civil Service Law.
Candidates must have a bachelor's degree including or supplemented by 24 semester credit hours in accounting, auditing and/or taxation courses.
Duties Description • Review Financial Statements for issuance to Agency program units.
• Finalize billings for the various program units within the agency.
• Administer the credit card program for the Agency.
• Responsible for quarterly and annual reports to the State Comptroller’s Office.
• Review and Approve journal entries entered into SFS.
• Run reports from SFS.
• Administer the Crown Castle Contract on behalf of OGS.
• Coordinate the work of subordinate staff with other sections, departments, or outside intermediaries.
• Prepare and analyze financial and project reports to ensure that all reports are prepared in a complete, accurate and timely manner.
• Provide guidance to management on programmatic issues and constraints, presenting creative solutions.
• Oversee the development of policies, standards, and procedures governing maintenance, review, and supervision of projects.
• Other assignments deemed necessary by the Assistant Chief Accountant.
• This position requires the candidate to work well in a matrixed team structure and possess the ability to elicit report requirements from business units.
• Strong writing, logical and analytic skills, and expert communication skills are preferred.
• Perform the full range of supervisory responsibilities of the Accounting & Capital Assets Unit. Supervisory responsibilities include Financial Reporting, Accounts Receivables, Cashier’s Office, and Sole Custody Accounts.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
