Minimum Qualifications Are you a Registered Nurse with experience in nurse education and training? New York Sity Children's Center is currently recruiting a Registered Nurse 3 (Psychiatric Educator) to plan, design, and develop training curriculum to improve the knowledge, skills, and abilities of nursing staff.

Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates from outside and within State Service can be considered for a provisional appointment if they have:
• License and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State and
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing and
• 2 years of post-licensure nursing experience; 1 year must be clinical nursing experience working with individuals, at least 50% of whom have been diagnosed with mental illness, addiction, or substance use disorder and 1 year must be as a professional nurse educator conducting nurse education and training
Substitution: Master’s degree in nursing or higher may substitute for the one year of nurse educator experience.

If you are appointed provisionally, you must take the next scheduled Civil Service examination for this title and your score must be reachable on the resulting eligible list before you can be permanently appointed. If you do not pass the examination or achieve a reachable score, you may not be retained.

Duties Description As a Registered Nurse 3 (Psychiatric Educator), you would plan, design, and develop orientation and training curriculum for nursing staff; provide on the job training, clinically supervise staff in the provision of nursing services, evaluate training needs and modify programs to ensure effective service delivery, collaborate with nursing management and multidisciplinary treatment teams to develop and revise policies and procedures and ensure staff competencies are current and in compliance with nursing standards.

2. To be eligible for appointment and to maintain employment, you cannot be listed as an excluded individual or entity on any of the Federal and/or State Medicaid and Medicare exclusion lists (or excluded from any other Federal or Federally assisted program). If you are appointed and subsequently listed as an excluded individual or entity on any of these lists (or excluded from any other Federal or federally assisted program), you may be terminated from your employment.

If appointed, you may be required to become an enrolled Medicare provider; obtain and provide to your employer a National Provider Identifier (NPI) number issued by the National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES); and otherwise actively participate to the degree necessary to allow for your services to be billed through Medicare and Medicaid. If you are appointed and you lose the ability to bill through Medicare and Medicaid, you may be terminated from your employment.

Posted hiring rate includes the sum of the statutory hiring rate for PS&T Grade 22 ($79,928), an Increase Hiring Rate ($10,536), Location pay (3,400) and Geographic Pay Differential ($35,000).
