Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must currently be a permanent Developmental Disabilities Program Specialist 1
• OR
• Must be active and reachable on the Civil Service eligible list for Developmental Disabilities Program Specialist 1
• OR
• Eligible for 70.1 transfer by way of current permanent status in a title deemed comparable to Developmental Disabilities Program Specialist 1 by the Department of Civil Service (Must also be within 2 salary grades of the targeted title);
• OR
• Minimum Qualifications for Provisional Appointment:
• You must be a qualified employee of the New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities and have had one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a position at a Grade 16 or above.
• NOTE: Provisional appointments will only be considered if there are insufficient in-title and/or Civil Service list candidates.
Duties Description • Have working knowledge of OPWDD State and Federal regulations including Part 624, Part 633, Family Care Manual, DQI survey protocols
• Conduct on-site reviews to monitor compliance with regulations and provide technical assistance or training as necessary for quality improvement and other topics related to regulatory compliance
• Conduct mock surveys at IRAs and Day Habilitation programs including morning and evening observations, medication storage/security reviews, physical plant walk-through, personal allowance reviews, and full record reviews
• Complete reports on findings of reviews and make recommendations for follow-up medical care, revisions to program plans and goals, and other corrective actions to address deficient areas
• Conduct POCA verifications visits
• Review Family Care (re)certification packages
• Collect and submit paperwork for audits.
• Serve as an active member of the Incident Review Committee and Sub-Committee
• Collect and analyze incident trends and offer recommendations to prevent recurrence
• Utilize Microsoft Word, Excel, EHR, CHOICES, TABS, IRMA, Acumatica, and SharePoint documents to organize and facilitate QI department activities
• Assist with COVID related tasks including but not limited to PPE inventory and distribution, N95 fit testing, maintaining statewide spreadsheets and metrics related to pandemic
• Act as liaison with OPWDD Division of Quality Improvement
• Assist with Medicaid Compliance and billing reviews as needed
• Provide coverage to Residential Habilitation Coordinators as needed.
