Minimum Qualifications Do you have nursing experience working in a community setting? Hutchings Psychiatric Center is recruiting a Registered Nurse 2 Community to work with individuals with mental illness to prepare them for discharge to a skilled nursing facility. Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply.
Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates from outside and within State Service may be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement - Statewide (NY HELPS) program as a Registered Nurse 2 Community if they have:
• License and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State, and
• 2 years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience;1 year of this experience must have been providing direct services to individuals diagnosed with mental illness, developmental disabilities, addiction, or substance use disorders in a community setting.
Substitution: Bachelor’s degree in nursing can substitute for 1 year of post-licensure clinical nursing experience; and a master’s degree in nursing can substitute for 2 years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience. Neither degree substitutes for the required 1 year of specialized community nursing experience.
OR
Candidates from within State service may be considered for transfer to a competitive class position if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
Duties Description As a Registered Nurse 2 (Community), you would directly provide, oversee, and coordinate nursing and health related care services for a caseload of individuals in a community setting, such as a Family Care Program, Mobile Integration Team, and outpatient clinic; perform clinical case management activities; serve as a member of an interdisciplinary treatment team; and provide nursing-specific clinical, consultative, and instructional assistance to individuals and their families, other disciplines, and health care providers.

1. If you fail to maintain your license and/or registration once you are appointed, action will be taken to remove you from the position.
2. In order to be eligible for appointment and to maintain employment, you cannot be listed as an excluded individual or entity on any of the Federal and/or State Medicaid and Medicare exclusion lists (or excluded from any other Federal or Federally assisted program). If you are appointed and subsequently listed as an excluded individual or entity on any of these lists (or excluded from any other Federal or Federally assisted program), you may be terminated from your employment.
3. If appointed you may be required to become an enrolled Medicare provider; obtain and provide to your employer a National Provider Identifier (NPI) number issued by the National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES); and otherwise actively participate to the degree necessary to allow for your services to be billed through Medicare and Medicaid. If you are appointed and you lose the ability to bill through Medicare and Medicaid, you may be terminated from your employment.

Posted hiring rate includes the sum of the statutory hiring rate for PS&T Grade 20 ($72,032), an Increase Hiring Rate ($9,688), Geographic Pay Differential ($20,000). The posted job rate is the sum of the statutory job rate ($91,381), Geographic Pay Differential ($35,000).
