Must be eligible for reassignment, transfer, reachable for appointment from the appropriate eligible list or meet the following qualifications:
Must be a qualified employee of New York State and have one year of permanent competitive service as an Office Assistant 1; or one year of permanent service in a clerical or keyboarding title allocated to Grade 6 or higher. Qualifying titles are available at: Department of Civil Service (ny.gov)

Non-competitive Qualifications:
This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).*To be considered for appointment through NY HELPS, candidates must meet the open- competitive minimum qualifications for this position.
One year of clerical experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Proven experience in an administrative and/or customer service role
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
Duties Description Department Description:
The Department Maintenance and Operation at SUNY Oneonta invites applicants for the position of Office Assistant II. This position reports directly to the Assistant Director of Maintenance Operation and will provide office support and clerical work to meet the requirements of department.
Job Description:
Provide office support and clerical work to meet the requirements of department. Such work may consist of but is not limited to:
• Data entry
• Math or calculations
• Maintain EZ Pass and WEX credit card programs.
• Maintain van reservations and LENs programs.
• Keyboarding and other document preparation tasks
• Answering telephones and assisting customers
• Completing forms
• Creating or assisting in the preparation of reports, charts, graphs, and tables
• Processing key requests
• Other related activities
• Make general office purchases.

This is a permanent position.
*For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title may be filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply.
At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.
