Minimum Qualifications The most ideal candidate will have the following skills and competencies:

•Proactive and independent with the ability to take initiative

•Adept with a variety of multimedia training platforms and methods
•Ability to take on and manage competing priorities
•Prior legislative internship experience a plus
Minimum Qualifications Include:
•Bachelor’s Degree
•Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and related program software
•Experience with social media marketing techniques, platforms, and how to increase number of users/followers a plus
Duties Description The New York State Senate’s Student Programs Department is seeking a discrete, detail-oriented individual with strong problem-solving skills to join their team as an Administrative Assistant.
The Administrative Assistant will perform administrative tasks and services to support effective and efficient operations of the Student Programs Department, providing high-level support to the Director of Student Programs, Deputy Director of Student Programs, and Work-Based Learning Program Director.
In this dynamic role, you will wear multiple hats:
Administrative Contributions:
•Answer frequently asked questions from applicants and internship program participants relative to standard policies, hiring processes, etc.
•Maintain the integrity and confidentiality of files, records, and information that pertains to program applicants and participants
•Manage supply ordering
•Perform other duties as assigned
Participant Onboarding Contributions: Assist with multiple aspects of the program’s onboarding process including, but not limited to:
•Assist with the acceptance and notification process for program applicants
•Track and maintain a spreadsheet of applicant information
•Assist managers with new hire orientation, including program scheduling and reserving space
Website and Social Media Contributions:
•Regularly update all program information provided on Student Programs website
•Manage and update social media content to promote and provide program descriptions, applications, videos, and highlight students’ accomplishments
•Assist with expanding social media presence through increased post volume and strategic posts that increase the number of users and post reach
Student Programming Contributions: Assist with multiple programmatic aspects, including:
•Process required participant paperwork through the course of the program
•Assist Senate Fellows and Session Assistants with housing and program related questions
•Provide support with the Model Legislative Session component
•Communicate to program participants with reminders for seminars, assignments, and timesheet deadlines
Additional Comments This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Salary range is $40,000 to $50,000, commensurate with education and experience.
