Salary RangeFrom $50 to $65 Annually
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree, interest in the legislative process and state assembly budget procedures. Experience and knowledge of the legislative process preferred.
Ability to work evening and/or some weekend hours.
Duties Description Review and make recommendations on bills; Research; Meet with Legislative Representatives and represent the Assemblymember at meetings; Draft/prepare legislation; Negotiate, discuss legislation with staff, Committee, legislative and government offices; Prepare for floor debates and conferences.
Provide policy and/or program advice; Negotiate, discuss or coordinate with members and their staff in connection with the member's committee, legislation, etc.; Negotiate, discuss or coordinate on Member's behalf with the Senate and Governor's Office with respect to the Member's legislation.
Provide background information for floor, committee, conference, meetings, etc.; Track Member's legislation and other legislation; Act as liaison with specific groups such as labor unions, school boards, etc.
Additional Comments This position is fulltime from January through end of June, 2025 during the Assembly session period. Travel is required.
