Minimum Qualifications Permanent service in this title or one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in a title SG-12 or higher and otherwise eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of Civil Service Law. Candidates on the eligible list will be considered and need not apply to this posting.

Duties Description This position is the supervisory position for the Claims Processing Unit. Duties will focus on the supervision of staff and the oversight and coverage of the various tasks of the unit.

• Monitor incoming Victim Service Portal claim applications and paper victim compensation claim applications on behalf of victims of crime.
• Answer phone calls to the Agency’s primary phone numbers and route calls as appropriate and as directed.
• Monitor shared email inboxes for Claims Intake and Emergency Awards, taking appropriate action for each inquiry.
• Provide training on how to use work equipment, as well as how to execute office and Agency procedures.
• Assign work to staff, schedule assignments, develop workflows, and establish work performance standards.
• Review work performance and production, determine the nature of problems, and
take corrective action as needed.
• Evaluate the quality, quantity, and timeliness of work.
• Evaluate the performance of staff and prepare performance evaluations.
• Provide subordinates with specific instructions concerning the preparation of
documents, processing of materials, and maintenance of records.
• Participate in the hiring process for subordinate staff.
• Respond to ad hoc external and internal inquiries, verbally and/or written.
• Perform Agency mail duties and other duties as assigned.
