Minimum Qualifications Candidates must be a matriculated undergraduate or graduate college student. Documentation of current matriculation and enrollment must be submitted with your resume.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s or higher degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information System, Health Information Management, Risk Management or related discipline from an accredited college or university, with specialization in Cybersecurity or a related field.
Knowledge of the current and evolving cyber threat landscape; thorough research capabilities specific to the areas of cybersecurity; knowledge of hardware, software, data, and network principles and systems; familiarity with the NIST Cybersecurity Framework (NIST CSF), NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF) and the CIS Critical Security Controls, HIPAA, HITECH and commonly referenced cybersecurity/IT frameworks and policy-related publications; excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical issues in plain language; excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to work independently and as part of a team; and a dedication to public service
Duties Description The student assistant will provide the cybersecurity team assistance with implementating security measures, conducting risk assessments, monitoring security systems, and educating staff on best practices for cybersecurity. Additionally, a student assistant will be expected to provide new perspectives and innovative ideas to the team, contributing to the ongoing success of the organization's cybersecurity efforts.
The Student Assistant will be responsible for conducting risk assessments to identify potential vulnerabilities in the organization's systems and networks; collaborating with other members of the cybersecurity team to identify and address security risks and vulnerabilities; monitoring security systems for any suspicious activity or breaches and reporting any incidents to the appropriate personnel; participating in security audits and compliance assessments to ensure that the organization is meeting industry standards and regulations; contributing to the development and implementation of cybersecurity policies and procedures; staying up-to-date with the latest cybersecurity trends and technologies through research and training.
