Minimum Qualifications Prior experience in driving policy through the NY legislative process is required, whether as a Legislative Director, Legislative Aid or similar role.
The ability to read bills (legislative text, not just memos) line-by-line, cross-reference other parts of law, identify flaws, consider unintended consequences, and collaborate on solutions; Prior staff management experience is preferred
Duties Description The Legislative Director (LD) will help drive the legislative agenda for the office, developing and implementing the strategy to push policy priorities and legislative goals; supervise and mentor the legislative interns and staff, and support other needs of the Assemblymember's office as needed.
The LD will work closely in conjunction with the Assemblymember, Chief of Staff, Legislative Aid, and other staff to ensure legislative strategy is incorporated into overall operations.
