Minimum Qualifications NY HELPS: bachelor's or higher degree.
Reassignment: Current NYS Department of Health (DOH) employee with permanent or contingent permanent status as a Health Program Administrator, Grade 18.
Transfer: Current New York State employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent permanent, competitive service in a title eligible to transfer to a Health Program Administrator, Grade 18.
Preferred Qualifications: The preferred candidate would have strong computer skills, the ability to analyze data, excellent organizational skills, the ability to prioritize multiple assignments, and experience working in a team-based environment.
Duties Description The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) is a federally funded public health nutrition program which provides reimbursement for healthy meals and snacks served to children in family day care homes, day care centers, emergency shelters, afterschool programs, and adults in other programs.
The Health Program Administrator (HPA) will work with public health nutritionists and grantees to implement Eat Well Play Hard in Childcare Settings (EWPHCCS) initiative through contracts with selected organizations. The HPA will review grantee annual budgets, vouchers, and reports for completeness and accuracy. The incumbent will also assist with procurement activities, prepare reports, handle logistics for grantee trainings, coordinate the design and printing of the EWPHCCS curriculum/materials, and oversee curriculum updates.
Additional Comments Permanent, competitive or non-competitive, full-time appointment. Transfer candidates may be asked for their social security number to verify eligibility.
Position may be filled at a trainee level (equated to Grades 14 or 16), or Grade 18, depending upon the qualifications of the candidate.
This position is part of the NYS HELPS program. No examination is required.
This position may require travel throughout New York State including overnights to areas not served by public transportation.

For new State employees appointed to graded positions, the annual salary is the hiring rate (beginning of the Salary Range) of the position. Promotion salaries are calculated by the NYS Office of the State Comptroller in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law, OSC Payroll rules and regulations and negotiated union contracts.
