Duties Description As a Plant Superintendent A, you will supervise staff that are responsible for the operation and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment related to the physical plant and maintenance operations including:
• Planning maintenance, repair, and construction projects.
• Assigning and overseeing work assignments to ensure they are completed on schedule.
• Administering all maintenance contracts.
• Ensuring buildings and systems are in compliance with federal and State regulatory agencies.
Minimum Qualifications Creedmoor Psychiatric Center is recruiting a Plant Superintendent A to manage and oversee the daily operations of the physical plant, engineering, and maintenance departments. Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply.
Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (HELPS) program as a Plant Superintendent C if they have 8 years of experience in a physical plant in an institutional, educational, laboratory, or healthcare setting, or a power plant, which must include management of daily plant operations including procedure development, budget planning and workforce allocation, efficiency, and enforcement of codes and standards; capital planning or construction/rehabilitation projects; and/or contract management of building maintenance/construction/rehabilitation projects and grounds.
Substitutions: Associate’s degree in a related field can substitute for 2 years of specialized experience, bachelor’s degree in a related field can substitute for 4 years of specialized experience, master’s degree in a related field can substitute for 5 years of specialized experience, and doctorate in a related field can substitute for 6 years of specialized experience.
OR
Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they are reachable on the current Plant Superintendent A eligible list.
OR
Candidates from within State Service can be considered transfer to a competitive class position if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
OR
In accordance with Section 52.7 of the Civil Service Law, this notice advises all employees of the Office of Mental Health of our intention to conduct a non-competitive promotion examination for the position of Plant Superintendent A at Creedmoor Psychiatric Center. Permanent appointment may be made by non-competitive promotion of an applicant who meets the position’s minimum qualifications if all requirements of non-competitive promotion are met.
The promotion field for the Plant Superintendent A (NY HELPS) position consists of candidates who have 1 year of permanent service as a Plant Superintendent B.
