Duties Description The Division of Science, Technology & Innovation provides program funding to centers to assist companies at all stages of growth through the innovation/commercialization cycle. Under the direction of the Program Director, the incumbent will manage program contracts, assist with and align assigned programs to the goals of the Division, Agency and NYS to better coordinate science, technology and manufacturing focused economic development efforts. This position will work with other divisions, agencies and partners to ensure that division programs are not duplicating services of other publicly funded programs and maximizing New York State’s investment.

Duties include but are not limited to:
• Manage multiple programs (up to 30 individual centers/contracts).
• Assist centers with achieving goals established in the Contract work plan.
• Work with centers to establish individual commercialization plans as appropriate and assist with implementation.
• Identify company attraction opportunities through events, discussions with centers, and other activities.
• Suggest changes to program(s) as needed to ensure they align with overall strategy of the Division.
• Work with centers to identify gaps in available services/expertise and work with the Program Director and Division Director to develop new programs/initiatives to address those gaps.
• Create opportunities to encourage collaboration within each program and across all programs within the division.
• Develop best practices, guide and train centers’ reporting staff.
• Manage contracting and payment process for all assigned contracts.
• Oversee contract performance and financial review of assigned centers.
• Discuss and recommend action for improving contract performance with supervisor and externally with centers.
• Engage in regular site visits to facilitate interaction with centers and key stakeholders.
• Travel within New York State is required of this position.
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications Open to current NYS employees with one year of service in an Economic Development Program Specialist 2 title.

Open to those reachable on the Economic Development Program Specialist 2 eligible list, or eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of Civil Service Law. Additional Comments SALARY RANGE: $84,156 - $106,454
Note: The starting salary for candidates with no prior State service will be at the minimum hiring rate.
