Duties Description • Isolation and characterization of mitovesicles from brain tissue, and their analysis nanotrack analysis, Western blotting, fluorescent activated sorting, immunolabeling for confocal microscopy, and electron microscopy.
• Coordination with collaborators for proteomic studies of extracellular vesicles as well as the impact of mitovesicles on LTP.
• For cell culture, the individual will prepare and analyze primary neuronal and astrocytic cultures.
• The individual will work closely with other members of the laboratory, performing experiments, analyzing data, and writing manuscripts.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and five years of professional research experience in an appropriate field or master’s degree in an appropriate field may substitute for one year of experience, or Ph.D. in an appropriate field may substitute for an additional year of experience.
Preferred:
• Applicants have a Ph.D. degree.
• Applicant has experience in grant writing.
• Applicants have at least 7 years of postdoctoral research in cell and molecular biology.
• A strong research and record of written productivity as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications in international journals and potentially fellowship applications.
• The candidate possesses the ability to work efficiently, great problem-solving ability, excellent organizational skills, excellent interpersonal skills, be fluent in English, and should have good writing skills.
• Proficiency in molecular, biochemical, cell culture methods and animal handling.
• Proficiency in extracellular vesicles isolation.
• Proficiency in mitochondria research.
• Experienced in isolation and characterization of mitovesicles from brain tissue, and their analysis nanotrack analysis, Western blotting, fluorescent activated sorting, immunolabeling for confocal microscopy, and electron microscopy.
• Experience with collaborators for proteomic studies of extracellular vesicles as well as the impact of mitovesicles on LTP.
• Experience in cell culture. The individual should have experience in preparing and analyzing primary neuronal and astrocytic cultures.
