Duties Description The Biological Sciences Department at the State University of New York at Old Westbury is seeking applications for a Promoting Recruitment, Opportunity, Diversity, Inclusion and Growth plus (PRODiG+) Fellow starting Fall 2025. The PRODIG+ program has two primary goals (1) increasing the number and share of excellent diverse faculty committed to advancing the ideals of diversity, equity, and inclusion; and (2) strengthening the pipeline for retention and support of these candidates. This Fellowship is a two-year, full-time, 12-month, non-tenure-track faculty position that provides teaching experience at our campus, faculty mentorship, funding for professional development as well as a stipend for summer research, and support for networking. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Biology or a related field by the start date. We seek a candidate who is committed to liberal arts education and can demonstrate excellence in teaching and research while working with a culturally diverse student population. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate (at the Masters level) courses in Evolution, Introductory Biology courses, and other upper-division courses. The candidate will be expected to pursue their scholarship and involve undergraduate students in research. Involvement in college service is also expected.

Minimum Qualifications Required Qualifications:

Have completed a Ph.D. degree or relevant terminal degree from an accredited institution completed prior to August 2025 in Biology or a related field.
Be eligible to work in the United States without a visa sponsorship.
Demonstrate personal, academic, and/or work experience engaging with diversity, equity, and inclusion and/or a commitment to facilitating and enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in the campus community. Such experience may include, but is not limited to, an academic/scholarly track record focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion; work, volunteer/unpaid/community service; or related experience/expertise in serving underserved or vulnerable areas and/or populations.

Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based teaching approaches.
Experience teaching undergraduate biology courses.
Experience teaching a culturally diverse undergraduate student population.
Experience mentoring undergraduate students in research.
Demonstrated plan to integrate your research into the curriculum.
Currently funded research and/or a record of successful grantsmanship.
Terminal degree or relevant experience is in the field of Evolution or Molecular Biology.

Preference will be given to candidates who are:

Current SUNY students, alumni, and/or Fellows.
From a low-income background (e.g., Pell-eligible as undergraduates), were first-generation college students (students whose parents have not earned a bachelor's degree), have overcome adversity, are AmeriCorps alumni, or are veterans.
