Duties Description The Office of the New York State Attorney General (OAG) Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Program, one of the largest CLE providers in NY State, offers free access to live webcasts and self-study (on-demand) CLE courses to current New York State OAG attorneys. Our courses are developed for state attorneys to enhance knowledge and skills relevant to public legal practice. New York attorneys must complete 24 Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credit hours every two years for experienced attorneys, and 36 Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credit hours applies to newly admitted attorney. Required CLE categories include skills, ethics and professionalism, diversity, inclusion and elimination of bias, cybersecurity, privacy, data protection.


This position assists the CLE Training Unit in ensuring that tracking systems and files are up to date and is an important part of the team that provides these required training events.


• Crediting, certifying, filing, and auditing in the Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Database for Self-Study and Live programs.
• Creating, distributing, and managing CLE Program Announcements.
• Auditing OAG attorney CLE Report Cards to ensure proper credit has been given and all CLE certificates are accounted for.
• Communicating with OAG attorneys who are due to submit their biannual CLE report.
• Assisting with the administration of Live CLE programs including program logistics (set-up/break-down), material compilation and distribution, registration sign in, and program monitoring.
• Documenting Course Control Numbers during Live CLE programs.
• Monitoring, responding, and/or routing Continuing Legal Education (CLE) email(s) to appropriate staff.
• Reviewing and entering CLE evaluations into the Evaluation Tracking Database.
• Use Microsoft Office products to type and format program materials, reports, forms, charts, and other materials to produce final versions that are accurate and grammatically correct.
• Make updates to the CLE OAG website to ensure that information is accurate and not outdated.
• Work with CLE Associate Director to provide logistics support for planning large learning events.
• Assisting on live CLE and PD program days providing phone coverage, email monitoring for questions/comments, assisting with room set up greeting attendees, and general assistance.
• Answering main telephone line for Bureau, routing calls to the appropriate team member and taking accurate messages.
• Assisting attorneys with Frequently Asked Questions including un-received registration emails or route them to the appropriate staff member for more complex questions.
• Assist with maintaining the LEPD Calendar with programs, meetings, and conferences.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications NY HELPS:

This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).

For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title may be filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply.

At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.

NON-COMPETITIVE QUALIFICATIONS:

There are no minimum qualifications for a NY HELPS appointment.

OTHER WAYS TO QUALIFY:

Eligible for a lateral transfer or eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law by having one year of permanent competitive service in an appropriate title.
