Duties Description This role is a unique opportunity to contribute to public health efforts in New York State, ensuring that schools maintain high vaccination rates to prevent and control disease outbreaks. The Health Program Administrator 2 will be responsible for program planning and policy development including collaboration with state and local health and education agencies, oversight of immunization program planning, implementation, and evaluation, development and distribution of immunization policies, educational materials, and outreach programs, vaccination coverage data analysis, program evaluation and quality Improvement including modernization of data collection systems, and supervision and leadership.
Minimum Qualifications Current NYS Department of Health (DOH) employee with permanent or contingent-permanent, competitive status as a Health Program Administrator 2, G25 OR a NYS employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent-permanent, competitive service in a title at or above a G23 and deemed eligible for transfer to Health Program Administrator 2, G25 under Section 70.1 or Section 52.6 of the NYS Civil Service Law.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in public health, public administration, or a related field; progressively responsible administrative experience in a public health program, including fiscal and program management, policy contributions, and statewide supervision of public health professionals; knowledge of immunization recommendations and vaccine-preventable diseases; familiarity with information technology; and experience with program planning, implementation, and evaluation.
The preferred candidate will also be familiar with representing departmental interests, understand state government management processes, and possess excellent organizational and communication skills. Experience working with other state governmental programs is also desired.
Additional Comments Permanent, Competitive, full-time. Transfer candidates may be asked for SSN to verify title history and eligibility.
This position may require travel throughout New York State including overnights to areas not served by public transportation.
For new State employees appointed to graded positions, the annual salary is the hiring rate (beginning of the Salary Range) of the position. Promotion salaries are calculated by the NYS Office of the State Comptroller in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law, OSC Payroll rules and regulations and negotiated union contracts.
