Duties Description Under the supervision of a Dietitian, the Dietitian Technician performs standardized nutritional care activities and assists individuals receiving dietetic treatments and nutrition services. Dietitian Technician work entails assisting in the delivery of dietetic and nutrition services to individuals and being responsible for maintaining individuals’ records in compliance with program standards and regulations. Dietitian Technicians document and update patients' information, such as food histories, plans, and physician-recommended adjustments. They provide standardized dietetic care to low-risk people, such as nutrition screenings and assessments. They are also responsible for observing individuals during mealtimes; recording and reporting observations, such as eating habits, food reactions, and special diets; and consulting with supervisors and treatment staff regarding changes in individuals’ diets and nutritional goals. They provide standard nutrition information and guidance on diets and food preparation activities to individuals, families, and healthcare professionals. Inspects or monitors food preparation, handling, serving areas, and meals; aids in finding inadequacies and implementing corrective action plans to ensure adherence to prescribed diets, menus, standards, and regulations. Inspects and maintains food service and supply inventory.
Minimum Qualifications Non-Competitive: current registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) as a Dietetic Technician, Registered or Nutrition and Dietetics Technician, Registered.
Reassignment: Current New York State Department of Health employee with permanent or contingent permanent status as a Dietitian Technician.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a geriatric setting
Additional Comments One permanent, non-competitive, full-time appointment.

For new State employees appointed to graded positions, the annual salary is the hiring rate (beginning of the Salary Range) of the position.
