Duties Description As a Food Service Worker 3, you would supervise the activities of Food Service Workers 2 and Food Service Workers 1 or other subordinate staff and provide the necessary coordination between dining rooms and food production kitchens. Food Service Workers 3 are responsible to a higher-level food service administrator for the operation of several units within a facility’s overall food service program. In this capacity, incumbents may prepare meals, order food, and non-food supplies in accordance with established purchasing guidelines; inspect food preparation and service areas for proper sanitation and adherence to correct procedures; and supervise storage of food and non-food to assure proper handling, safety, and security; and you may be required to submit written reports and documents regarding such duties. In some facilities computer literacy and using spreadsheets and reading charts may be required.

Minimum Qualifications Candidates must be reachable for appointment on the current Civil Service eligible list for Food Service Worker 3.

Candidates within State Service can be considered for transfer to a competitive class position if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

In accordance with Section 52.7 of the Civil Service Law, this notice advises all employees of the Office of Mental Health of our intention to conduct a non-competitive promotion examination for the position of Food Service Worker 3 at Rochester Psychiatric Center. Permanent appointment may be made by non-competitive promotion of an applicant who meets the position’s minimum qualifications if all requirements of non-competitive promotion are met.

The promotion field for the Food Service Worker 3 position consists of candidates who have 1 year of permanent service as a Food Service Worker 2.
