Minimum Qualifications Candidates must be reachable on the current Civil Service eligible list or be eligible for 70.1 transfer. In order to qualify for a Civil Service Law Section 70.1
transfer candidates must have one year of permanent competitive service in a Grade 9 or higher level title. The title must be eligible for 70.1 transfer to the Secretary 1 title and the transfer cannot be a second consecutive transfer resulting in an advancement of more than two grade levels.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Strong organizational skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• High proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Access.
• Strong knowledge of professional correspondence formatting.
• Ability to proofread and edit all correspondence prepared for signature.

Duties Description The Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) provides high-quality, person-centered services, supports, and advocacy to approximately 120,000 + individuals with developmental disabilities in New York State. We are guided in our interactions with the people we serve and each other by compassion, dignity, diversity, excellence and honesty.
This position will report to the Director of Employee Relations. Under the direction of the Director the incumbent will provide secretarial and administrative support for the Employee Relations Office. The office is a fast-paces environment where in the incumbent will be involved in a variety of duties. As a result, the ability to maintain confidentiality is an important requirement of the position.
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
• Serve as secretary to the Director and Assistant Director for Employee Relations.
• Provide secretarial support for Agency Labor Relations Representatives and other WTM staff.
• Ensure telephone coverage.
• Maintain office files and perform routine clerical functions such as acquisitions of supplies and scheduling of equipment repairs.
• Handle all incoming mail, type all correspondence and special reports.
• Prepare, modify and edit spreadsheets and power point presentations.
• Schedule meetings and conference call and reserve conference rooms using Microsoft Outlook
• Maintain files, databases and perform routine clerical functions, including filing.
• Perform other tasks which fall under the categories of communication, coordination, organization and records maintenance.
Additional Comments All OPWDD employees must be eligible and maintain eligibility for full and unconditional participation in the Medicare and Medicaid programs. Continued employment will depend on maintaining eligibility.
