Minimum Qualifications Permanent service in this title; or reachable for appointment from the existing eligible list for the title; or one year of permanent competitive service in a keyboarding or clerical title, SG-7 or higher and be eligible to transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

Duties Description The incumbent of this position will enter incoming claims into OVS’ Claims Assistant program, which will include barcode labeling and scanning. They will also review claims submitted by Victim Assistance Programs (VAP) rejected for missing information, and send correspondence requesting additional information; process address changes on closed claims, as well as review mail received on closed claims and forward to the appropriate re-open supervisor; return medical bills submitted by providers on denied and/or no-award claims with the appropriate correspondence; forward police reports received electronically to claim specialists; and assist with the purging of claims folders.

The duties will also include attending to the 1-800-Call Center, answering questions and directing callers to appropriate OVS staff or Victim Assistance Programs. This position will supervise clerical support staff where needed, and will evaluate staff and prepare performance evaluations; and upon implementation of the Victim Service Portal, the incumbent will serve as a quality control/workflow administrator for online submissions, and will assist the supervisor with the implementation of new procedures.
