Duties Description The incumbent will perform a variety of moderately complex duties involved in the operation and maintenance of a site-specific facility.
Duties include but are not limited to:
• Complete all routine to urgent phases of grounds maintenance and the operation of grounds equipment as assigned by Head Grounds Supervisor.
• Perform general grounds maintenance tasks such as clearing sites, raking or tilling soil, mowing lawns, applying fertilizers and pesticides, cutting brush and wood, trimming, and removing trees and shrubs, maintaining roads and sidewalks, and removing snow, trash, and other obstructions from the building and surrounding areas.
• Load trucks with debris, dirt, and other materials.
• Inspect, check, and patrol areas to detect deterioration, vandalism, or non-adherence to safety procedures. Report defects, possible hazards, or potentially dangerous conditions on the grounds.
• Assist in the maintenance, cleanliness, and order of the assigned facility and property.
• Operate self-propelled and motorized equipment such as lawn mowers, snowblowers, pumps, compressors, vehicles, small trucks, and light construction equipment.
• Assist in the preparation and serving of small, medium, or large-scale executive level functions, banquets, and receptions.
• Maintain a professional work demeanor under demanding conditions and changing deadlines.
• Interact with colleagues, customers, and other individuals in a courteous, positive, and professional manner.
• Perform tasks in an efficient, timely, and safe manner.
• Perform other support of operations duties as assigned.
Operational Needs:
• Work shift may be adjusted based on operational need including holiday, evening and weekend overtime with limited or short notice.
• Ability to bend, lift, climb, stand, and walk for long periods of time.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
• Possession and maintenance of a valid Driver’s License issued by the NYS Department of Motor Vehicle is required, or otherwise demonstrate the capacity to meet the transportation needs of the job.
Minimum Qualifications Four years of specialized experience in grounds, maintenance, food service, hospitality, or a related field.
Substitutions: An associate degree and two years of specialized experience OR a bachelor’s degree may substitute for four years of specialized experience.
NOTE: IN ORDER TO AWARD THE PROPER CREDIT FOR WORK EXPERIENCE, RESUMES MUST INCLUDE MONTH AND YEAR FOR START AND END DATES. IF ANY OF THIS EXPERIENCE IS LESS THAN FULL TIME YOU MUST INDICATE THE AVERAGE NUMBER OF HOURS WORKED PER WEEK.
