Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: For a permanent appointment, candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service as an Employment Specialist for Individuals with Disabilities 1 OR have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in a title SG-19 or above deemed eligible to transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law OR be reachable on the Professional Careers Opportunity (PCO) exam AND have three years of experience in originating employment programs resulting in new and increased employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities. This experience must have included job development and creating targeted marketing plans directed toward hiring persons with disabilities. One year of this experience must have included either preparation and delivery of presentations to business groups on employing persons with disabilities, or negotiating agreements to hire persons with disabilities.
Employees of ACCES-VR who are currently in an Employment Specialist for Individuals with Disabilities 1 position and are interested in transferring to a different location MUST apply for the position as outlined in the Application section of this flyer.
Duties Description The New York State Education Department’s Office of Adult Career and Continuing Education Services – Vocational Rehabilitation (ACCES-VR) is seeking to fill an Employment Specialist for Individuals with Disabilities 1 in the Rochester District Office. The incumbent will assist in the development and implementation of employment marketing activities to expand and expedite job opportunities for ACCES-VR consumers. Major responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Implementing local marketing initiatives that compliment regional and State marketing plans;
• Developing job opportunities;
• Communicating job leads, marketing concepts and labor force information to District Office staff;
• Working closely with Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors and job-ready ACCES-VR consumers to identify employment opportunities; and
• Ensuring successful employment outcomes.
Additional Comments CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This will be a permanent appointment. Filling of this position is contingent upon Division of Budget approval.
*Leads to a maximum salary of $77,376 through annual performance advances.
