Minimum Qualifications A Bachelor's Degree in correctional studies, counseling, criminal justice, psychology, social work, sociology, or vocational rehabilitation and two years of experience providing individual and/or group counseling in a recognized correctional, criminal justice, or community/human services program aimed at assisting clients with the resolution of major social, behavorial, and personal problems. Experience must have included responsibility for conducting counseling sessions designed to provide the participant(s) with counseling for significant social and personal problems such as alcohol and drug abuse, mental, behavioral, and emotional problems.

Substitution: a Master's Degree in correctional studies, counseling, criminal justice, psychology, social work, sociology, or vocational rehabilitation may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
Non-Qualifying Experience: Group work oriented toward behavior modification in such areas as self-improvement or tobacco cessation is NOT qualifying experience nor is crisis intervention or case management alone.

The additional minimum qualifications for Offender Rehabilitation Coordinator (Spanish Language): you must also pass a qualifying multiple choice test in understanding written Spanish given at the time of the written test. Failure on the written Spanish test will eliminate you from further consideration from this title.
You will be required to demonstrate your Spanish language proficiency at a level that will assure your ability to perform properly the duties of the position.

Duties Description You will perform beginning professional counseling and case management work under close continual supervision. You will review and assess a variety of written documents, determine and establish counseling and program needs, and prepare evaluative reports. You will evaluate and investigate the offenders program participation while completing legislated reports for earned eligibility, merit time, and presumptive release reviews. You will be expected to understand and administer both individual and group counseling skills and principals in a correctional setting. You will be assigned all monolingual spanish speaking offenders. Serve as interpreter for other staff including disciplinary hearings and parole board hearings, and translate any letters.

Additional Comments This is a provisional appointment - you must pass exam (and be reachable for appointment)when given.
