Duties Description The Department of Communications seeks a seasoned Visual Content Editor to lead the editing and management of visual materials that align with the New York State Court System’s core mission. This position is instrumental in enhancing public understanding of the courts through clear, high-quality storytelling that supports access to justice initiatives. Collaboration, editorial expertise, and adaptability are key to success in this role.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Receiving from a cadre of product-producers, at times simultaneously, photographs and/or video of court-related events involving a variety of UCS personnel including Judicial Leadership.

• Edit, retouch, and color-correct images using digital editing software to ensure quality, engaging material, and consistency over time.

• Maintain and organize the OCA Communication Department’s photo archive, Photo Shelter, following UCS protocols and security measures.

• Operate, manage and maintain editing platforms.

• Coordinate daily with supervisors to fulfil daily and project-based photography needs.

• Receive and edit shipments of digital content from differing assignments and distribute product out to writers in an efficient manner.

• Immediately tag, name, and file visual content into the photo archiving system
• Ensure correct captions for content prior to publication.

• Travel as required for training or other needs as necessary.

• Ability to work flexible hours when needed, including occasional weekend and evening assignments.

• Ability to work with RAW images Jpegs and PNG files to color correct, establish proper white balance and add the appropriate amount of contrast and/or preset effects and export all image at the highest quality.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications One year in the Senior Court Analyst title; or Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and three (3) years of relevant experience; or Master's degree in Public or Business Administration from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of relevant experience; or An equivalent combination of education and experience. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated professional experience in a news, media or public relations environment.

Applicants must possess either demonstrated proficiency or a strong foundational understanding of professional editing platforms, including but not limited to Lightroom Classic, Photoshop, Final Cut Pro, and Premiere.
