 Duties Description As a working supervisor, incumbent will supervise a staff of Construction Equipment Operators and Facility Operations Assistant 1’s in the performance of a variety of grounds duties.  The grounds duties include, but are not limited to:
•	Mowing, weeding, pesticide application, tree removal and pruning of  hundred of acres of the Harriman Campus.
•	Shoveling, plowing, salting, and snow blowing of the several miles of Campus roadways and sidewalks.
•	Perform small paving projects and concrete pours which will include the use of the heavy duty construction equipment and trucks.
•	Digging and removal of soil and/or pavement for drainage and pipe maintenance and repairs.
Operational Needs:
•	Valid NYS Class A or B CDL license
•	Able to operate a variety of forklifts (OSHA certification provided after appointment).
•	Must be able to perform medium to heavy manual labor in all weather conditions. 
•	Experience with, and working knowledge of, AiM. 
•	Mandatory overtime as required for snow/ice control and removal, special events, and emergencies, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
•	Ability to lift a minimum of 80 lbs.
Shift: Monday – Friday; 6:30am - 2:30pm
 
 Minimum Qualifications One year of service as a Facility Operations Assistant 1 (Grounds)*. 
OR two years of experience and/or training in grounds maintenance work*.
*In addition, as determined by the State agency or campus, some positions may be required to obtain appropriate license or certification to apply pesticides, herbicides, and other treatments, within six months of appointment.
Some examples of appropriate equipment for this class: Self-propelled sweepers, front end loaders and dump trucks.   
A demonstration test may be required at the time of interview.
Pursuant to the Federal Omnibus Transportation Act, pre-employment drug and alcohol testing will be required.  Once appointed to/selected for the position, random drug and alcohol testing will be required.
Application Process - Candidates are required to provide specific, verifiable information about their qualifying experience with the Application for Posted Position (ADM 227). This information should be on the letterhead of the employer under whom the qualifying experience was gained and include names and titles of supervisors, duties performed during the training period and specific dates of employment and be signed by that employer.
•	Candidates qualifying through the completion of appropriate course work should include a copy of their transcript or listing of course work completed. 
•	A copy of a trades union card is acceptable documentary proof of qualification.
•	Candidates who do not submit appropriate documentary proof that they meet the minimum qualifications will not be considered for appointment.  
 
Per Agreement between the Civil Service Employees Association, Inc. and the State of New York, Article 45 (d) the requirement to prove qualification shall rest with the employee.
