Minimum Qualifications Candidates must be employed by New York State to be eligible to apply for this position.
Candidates must have permanent status as a Calculations Clerk 2, Grade 9 or a Clerk 2, Grade 9, and be eligible for lateral transfer; OR be eligible for 70.1 transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law. In accordance with Section 52.7 of the Civil Service Law, this notice advises all employees of the Office of Mental Health of our intention to potentially conduct non-competitive promotion examinations for the position of Calculations Clerk 2 at the Office of Mental Health, Central Office. Permanent appointments may be made by non-competitive promotion of applicants who meet the position’s minimum qualifications if all requirements of a non-competitive promotion appointment are met.
Duties Description The Office of Mental Health (OMH) is recruiting to fill several Calculations Clerk 2, Grade 9, positions in the Office of Financial Management’s State Operations Budget and Financial Management Group, Community Budget and Financial Management Group, and the Consolidated Business Office. The Center for Human Resources Management is also recruiting to fill Calculations Clerk 2 positions in the Central Transaction Unit.
Duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
•Prepare and process vouchering transactions for submittal to the Office of the State Comptroller for payment. This requires mathematical calculations and knowledge of the program area, and entry into the Statewide Financial System.
•Contact appropriate staff to obtain information necessary for the calculation and processing of transactions or other documents.
•Compile financial and other data for the calculation and processing of documentation.
•Review unit or department financial forms for conformance with approved spending.
•Prepare and run daily expense reports and other reports by collecting, compiling, computing and displaying data submitted by Central Office staff and OMH facility personnel offices.
•Enter transactions, approvals, and other requests into internal and external reporting systems.
•Maintain and monitor transaction information to ensure appropriate transaction processing. •Perform account clerical audits for programs in which there are a large number and a variety of transactions, verifications, checks and computations and where the written procedures are frequently changed. May initiate and write reports indicating errors and/or omissions uncovered during an audit.
•reviewing and verifying contract documents for completeness and accuracy to ensure consistency with all applicable New York State requirements.
