Duties Description New York City Children’s Center (NYCCC) an Office of Mental Health (OMH) Joint Commission accredited facility, is recruiting a Board-Certified Psychiatrist to join NYCCC’s Bronx campus located at 1300 Waters Place, Bronx NY.
Psychiatrists are essential to providing mental health services to the people OMH serves. They provide comprehensive and recovery oriented psychiatric treatment services built on principles of effective, measurable, and accountable care. As medical doctors, psychiatrists are responsible for ensuring that all services are integrated to promote mental and physical health and recovery. Additionally, since psychopharmacology has become an integral component of modern mental health treatment, psychiatrists serve as primary prescribers.
Psychiatrists at OMH:
• Provide primary psychiatric care to patients
• Respond to urgent or emergency clinical issues
• Collaborate with other health care professionals to achieve treatment goals and ensure continuity and quality of care
• Assess and refer individuals for admission, transfer, discharge, and further treatment
• Review and maintain medical records and documentation consistent with facility, agency, State, and federal guidelines
• Serve as members of a multidisciplinary treatment team
Minimum Qualifications Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (HELPS) program if they have:
o License and current registration to practice medicine in NYS; and
o Board Certification in general psychiatry by the ABPN.
OR
Candidates from within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
Additional Comments Psychiatrists at OMH facilities are eligible for:
• Psychiatrist Loan Repayment Program offering up to $120,000
• Supplemental income of up to 50% of salary by volunteering to provide evening, night, and weekend coverage
• May be eligible for academic appointment through a partnering institution

Multiple positions and multiple shifts are available. These positions are eligible for a downstate adjustment of $4,000.

If you are appointed and you lose the ability to bill through Medicare and Medicaid, you may be terminated from your employment.
3. Continued employment as a Psychiatrist 1 (C&Y) or Psychiatrist 2 (C&Y) is dependent upon current licensure to practice medicine and current certification in child and adolescent psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Loss of licensure and certification may result in removal from this position.
