Duties Description The Gaming Auditor 2, SG-23, will be a working supervisor who performs systematic examinations and appraisals of the accounting and program records and financial affairs of persons and/or businesses associated with the Casinos in New York State. The extent of these examinations is determined by the New York State Gaming Commission and will be reported back to the Commission in a background investigation report.
These activities require the application of professional accounting and auditing standards and principles.
DUTIES
Conduct financial portion of Gaming background investigations on employees, vendors, and corporations for the gamin licensing.
Supervise the financial operations of the Gaming Detail and act as Detail liaison with the Director of Fiscal Management.
Ensure that subordinate staff is trained adequately.
Conduct other investigative functions as directed involving the tracing of financial transactions and financial audits. Based on the specifics of the investigation, advise investigative staff what books, records and documents would be needed to establish case specific elements.
Travel as necessary to gaming facilities and applicant locations within and outside of New York State.
Prepare the Casino Unit’s billings including Personal Service and Non-Personal Service schedules.
Provide assistance as needed to Members of the Gaming Detail.
Complete additional tasks as assigned by Gaming Detail Supervisors.
Minimum Qualifications One (1) year of permanent service as an Auditor 1, G18 (including all parenthetics)
Or
A bachelor’s degree or higher including or supplemented by 24 semester credit hours in accounting and/or auditing AND three years of full-time professional experience in accounting/auditing or field accounting, responsible for the full range of activities in the design and/or review, analysis and management of accounting systems, resulting in the preparation of, or recommendations on, financial statements in accord with generally accepted accounting principles.
Note: A master’s degree may be substituted for one year of the above described experience. A valid CPA license and registration issued by New York State may be substituted for all three (3) years of experience.
