Duties Description Buffalo Psychiatric Center (BPC); a NYS Office of Mental Health (OMH) facility, is recruiting a Clinical Director, who will serve as the Chief Medical Officer.

The Clinical Director is responsible for the administration, oversight, evaluation, and continuous improvement of all psychiatric, medical, and contracted medical services provided by staff and consultants including:

• Participation in overall executive management and strategic plan development
• Oversight of the credentialing and privileging process
• Development and implementation of clinical policies and procedures
• Compliance with OMH, The Joint Commission (TJC), ACGME, and other external accrediting bodies’ standards, rules, and regulations
• Promotion of culturally competent, person-centered, and recovery-focused care

The Clinical Director ensures that the clinical mission of BPC is successfully aligned with the overall mission of OMH to promote the mental health and well-being of all New Yorkers so that they can reach their goal of recovery.

Minimum Qualifications 1. License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State or a New York State limited permit and licensure in another state or Canada;

AND

2. Certification in Psychiatry issued by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) or equivalent certifying body;

AND

3. Seven years of experience providing services to people diagnosed with mental illness, two years of which must have included supervising physicians and other clinical staff responsible for the delivery of treatment services; providing direction to staff regarding program objectives and the implementation of policy; and providing guidance to various clinical specialists.

AND

4. Eligibility for full and unconditional participation in the Medicaid and Medicare programs.

BPC’s mission is to serve individuals with serious mental illness in a way that empowers them, and fosters hope and recovery. BPC provides adult inpatient, community services, residential, vocational, and wellness services to individuals in Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, and Niagara counties. BPC’s inpatient services include eight (8) units, rehabilitation services, and discipline departments, such as social work and psychology. The outpatient services include five (5) Recovery and Treatment Centers (RTC), Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Program, and Mobile Integration Team (MIT).

BPC is located in the beautiful Buffalo-Niagara region of Western New York, and provides a balance of urban and country living with affordable housing, excellent public and private schools, and a wide variety of recreational activities for outdoor enthusiasts, sports fans, and music lovers.
