Minimum Qualifications One year of permanent competitive service as ITS 3 (Data Comm), G-23, or in a position deemed administrative under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law or in a title designated appropriate for Section 70.1 transfer of the Civil Service Law. Candidates reachable on the eligible list for this title will be canvassed and do not need to apply.
Duties Description This position reports to the Statewide Director of Administrative Services. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of current technological developments/trends in area of Data Communications. In addition the candidate should possess strong interpersonal and communication skills. Candidate will be expected to have frequent written and oral communications with a wide variety of people including, but not limited to, executive and management staff, co-workers, vendors, and outside agencies.
DUTIES:
• Manage, oversee, and administer the agency telecom program. This includes managing the provision of telecom services statewide, as well as troubleshooting, diagnosing, testing and oversight of telecom equipment and repairs.
• As a staff member of Administrative Services Bureau (ASB), candidate would act as a liaison between ASB and the Information Technology Bureau to assist with facilities projects where a high degree of synergy exists.
• Experience working in IT Data Center environments. Extensive knowledge of Data Center operations, infrastructure, etc. Experience in build-outs of Data Centers, server rooms, and/or data closets is a plus.
• Develop telecom/data cabling needs for new facility build-outs and relocations. Works with Facilities staff with coordination of cabling and technology related installation.
• Routinely review equipment and program needs, and prepare recommendations and justifications for purchases of equipment. Prepare RFI's for office relocations, analyzes bids, and assists with coordinating logistics.
• Manage and maintain interactive voice response system server, produce scripts, work with staff on IVR tree. Works with vendor to assist with software upgrades, changes and maintenance.
• Assist in developing yearly budgets for the Bureau.
• May be called upon to assist with facility emergencies after hours with may require mandatory overtime and after hours travel on very short notice.
• Duties include travel statewide and candidates are expected to drive a state vehicle as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
