Duties Description The Office of Public Safety (OPS) is seeking a student assistant for the Highway Safety Technology Unit (HSTU). The handling of these tasks will help the student gain professional skills while assisting OPS with special projects.
The Student Assistant will assist with duties including, but not limited to:
• Assist in the collection and review of data for compilation of program area reports.
• Observe technicians in the process of inspection, diagnosis, repair, and certification of evidential breath test devices and speed enforcement instruments.
• Assist with the filing of both electronic and hard copy records.
• Assist administrative tasks including email and telephone communications with customer agencies.
• Assist with the production of reports on instrument certification data for data requests.
• Assist technicians with intake and movement of breath alcohol testing and speed enforcement equipment brought on-site for maintenance and certifications.
Minimum Qualifications Must be a current student enrolled in a matriculating degree program and have completed a minimum of one (1) year as a student at a degree-granting two or four-year college or university.
Preferred Qualifications: The preferred candidate would possess experience with MS Word and Excel, basic technical/mechanical skills, and strong written and verbal communication skills
