Duties Description This position will support the Licensure and Regulatory Compliance unit within the Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement. Duties include overseeing, processing, tracking, and finalizing controlled substance license applications, and providing technical assistance to licensees, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders regarding controlled substance laws and regulations. The incumbent will oversee and assist with controlled substance destruction requests and collection events. The incumbent will assist with operational activities and supervise staff as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Permanent Transfer Candidates: Current NYS Department of Health employee with one year of permanent or contingent-permanent, competitive, service as Health Program Administrator 1, SG23 OR current NYS employee with one year of permanent or contingent-permanent, competitive, service in a title SG21 or higher and eligible to transfer under Section 52.6 or 70.1 of the NYS Civil Service Law.

Preferred Qualifications: Working knowledge of the New York State and Federal Controlled Substance Acts; broad range of administrative skills and experience including but not limited to; working independently; excellent writing and verbal communication skills; excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple assignments; managing and tracking licensing application processes, ensuring regulatory compliance; problem-solve and develop procedures as well as work with healthcare providers, various state agencies and federal partners; be proficient in Microsoft Office products, Adobe Acrobat DC/Professional, and ability to quickly learn new data management software programs.

Additional Comments Additional duties may include the preparation of written material in the form of internal and external reports, correspondence, and other documents related to program functions, program policies and regulations. Assist in Bureau initiatives and programs and other Bureau tasks as needed. Free Parking. You may be eligible to telecommute up to 50% of the time during a 2-week pay period.

This position may require travel throughout New York State including overnights to areas not served by public transportation.
