Duties Description Driver Training Programs (DTP) is responsible for developing, administering, and overseeing driver safety programs in the state. DTP regulates the businesses (including driving schools) that provide driver safety programs such as the Pre-Licensing and Online Pre-Licensing (OPL) courses, the classroom and internet Point and Insurance Reduction Programs.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Managing the Driver Training Programs (DTP) unit which includes functions:
o Driving Schools
o Point & Insurance Reduction Program
o Pre-licensing
o Online Pre-licensing
o Driver Education
Minimum Qualifications To be eligible for the Highway Safety Program Analyst, G-23 position you must meet one of the following conditions as detailed below:
1. Eligible for appointment from the Highway Safety Program Analyst, G-23 eligible list
2. In a G-21 or higher title that meets criteria for 70.1 or 52.6 transfer
3. For provisional appointment*: One year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service as a Highway Safety Program Analyst 1 or Highway Safety Program Representative.
*A provisional appointment is authorized by §65 of the Civil Service Law when there are fewer than three list eligibles willing to accept appointment to the position. In order to be provisionally appointed to the posted title, the candidate must meet the minimum qualifications as specified above. If offered a provisional appointment to the position, the candidate must take the next examination to be held for this title and be reachable on the subsequent established eligible list.
Additional Comments Hours of the position will be discussed at the time of interview, including questions regarding Flextime, AWS/Compressed work week and Telecommuting.
