Duties Description As a Supervising Labor Services Representative (SLSR) in the Office of Workforce Development (OWD) you would supervise professional and clerical staff through the development of a cohesive team that focuses on meeting Department needs by directing staff in a uniform approach ensuring the delivery of services to the agency’s customers. You may be responsible for representing the Commissioner of Labor and the Division Director at meetings with local workforce investment boards, the local Chamber of Commerce and other community-based organizations.

As this position requires travel, the appointee must have a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State and have a motor vehicle or otherwise demonstrate their capacity to meet the transportation needs of the position.

If Civil Service Eligible list(s) exists, they will be canvassed. You may also apply if you are eligible for appointment with one of the following qualifications:

Subsequent 55 B/C Qualifications: A subsequent 55-b/c appointment may be considered if you have one year of permanent or contingent-permanent service in a grade 18 or above, determined to be similar by civil service and have a current Civil Service 55-b/c approval letter.

Reassignment Qualifications: (DOL Employees ONLY) Current Department of Labor employees with at least one year of permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55-b/c service in a Supervising Labor Services Representative title; if you have less than one year, you must be reachable on the current Supervising Labor Services Representative eligible list for this location, if one exists.

70.1 Transfer Qualifications: One year of permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55-b/c service in the following titles may qualify for transfer pursuant to Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law:

• Employment Counselor – Grade 18
• Employment Counselor Spanish Language – Grade 18
• Employment Services Representative – Grade 18
• Investigative Officer 2 Unemployment Insurance – Grade 20
• Senior Administrative Analyst – Grade 18
• Senior Unemployment Insurance Hearing Representative – Grade 20
• Senior Unemployment Insurance Reviewing Examiner – Grade 20
• Unemployment Insurance Accounts Support Supervisor 1 – Grade 20
• Workforce Programs Specialist 1 – Grade 18
